AMOB’S TRIP TO WASHINGTON, D.C.

AMOB’s trip to Washington, D.C.

Amanda and I were so thrilled to share the honor of visiting Washington, DC to accept the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation’s Restaurant Neighbor Award with some of our AMOB family members. Joining us were two of our Ellenton team members, Chris Whittaker and Michael Madden, both of whom went above and beyond to help facilitate the first-ever Dive Into Reading program at our Ellenton location in June 2017.   My Dad, Lynn Sr., was also able to join us, which was great although we missed my Mom (who wasn’t feeling well and opted to stay home….really we think she

JOHN’S VISIT TO HILLSBOROUGH COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND USFSM

John’s visit to Hillsborough Community College and USFSM

Education in the community is near and dear to our heart. Whether it be raising money for scholarships, donating, community outreach programs, partnering with the school district for programs… I could go on – you name it, when it comes to education, we’re about it. When I was asked to visit the Hillsborough Community College (HCC) Tampa campus for an appearance at the Hospitality and Tourism Marketing Class, of course I couldn’t say no! We’ve had the pleasure of having Frida Bahja, an associate professor at HCC, as an intern at our Corporate Office this spring. Frida asked me to

DIVE INTO READING 2018

Dive into Reading 2018

We are thrilled to announce that our Dive Into Reading program is returning this June with more locations and more kids! The Anna Maria Oyster Bar created this program in partnership with the School District of Manatee County and the Suncoast Campaign for Grade Level Reading with help from many community partners. In Manatee County alone, 49% of our 3rd Grade students are not able to read to their grade level and their opportunities to catch up are limited. From birth to 3rd grade children learn to read; from 3rd grade on, they read to learn – we have to give our children

ST. PATRICK’S DAY 2018

St. Patrick’s Day 2018

We were all a wee bit Irish this St. Patrick’s Day! Guests reached the rainbow’s end as they arrived at the O-Bars, we were serving up a classic holiday favorite: All You Can Eat Corned Beef ‘n’ Cabbage – and to wash it down, we had green beers on draft… after all, it’s not an Irish celebration without it! They don’t call it the greenest day of the year for no reason – our teams, and guests, were dressed up and covered in green. Take a look at the pictures below, click the image to see the full gallery.

AMOB IN THE COMMUNITY – SPRING 2018

AMOB in the Community – Spring 2018

SCF’s New Library & Learning Center Grand Opening In February, we had the honor of representing the Bradenton Kiwanis at the State College of Florida’s grand opening for their newly constructed library. The Bradenton Kiwanis Foundation donated $10,000 to construct a Young Adult and Children’s Reading Room in SCF’s new Library & Learning Center. According to SCF, “the Bradenton Kiwanis gift will add to the SCF library’s current collection of young adult and children’s literature, which is accessible to anyone with a Manatee or Sarasota County library card”. The new building looks like a phenomenal addition to the SCF campus.

OYSTERS RECIPE GETS RAVE REVIEWS

Oysters recipe gets rave reviews

Where do your recipes come from? I hear that a lot. “Do your chefs come up with menu items?” Well, we don’t have chefs at the Oyster Bars; we have cooks that love to eat and cook. The Sarasota-Manatee Originals’ annual food & wine tasting event, Forks & Corks, was last month, and when we were trying to decide what item to feature, of course, our Grandma Georgie’s Chipotle Oysters was our 1st choice, but we’ve served them (to everyone’s delight) three years in a row.   We thought it might be time to serve something different, and since we
