KIWANIS CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST

Kiwanis Christmas in August

Christmas in August, established by the Bradenton Kiwanis Club is an annual event that helps provide basic assistance to homeless children, to prepare them for school. The project provides free school backpacks, school supplies, haircuts, toiletry products, medical and dental exams, gift cards to purchase shoes and clothing. This year was their 6th Annual Christmas in August, which took place at Bradenton’s McKechnie Field. We’re proud to show our support for this wonderful project and organization. Some of our staff, led by Andi from the Cortez location, even took part as volunteers! Pictured above is Manatee Community Foundation’s Executive Director Susie Bowie and Amanda

DIVE INTO READING PROGRAM

Dive Into Reading Program

There’s a definite correlation between grade-level reading and success. Studies show that of the children who are reading at one or more grade levels below their age when they finish 3rd grade, a majority will NEVER graduate high school and many will end up in Juvenile Detention Centers. There is also a concept called the Summer Slide where children “stop” learning during summers and have a hard time catching back up. Click here to view a video on Summer Slide. After talking with many concerned people in our community… in education & in the general community, the Anna Maria Oyster

MEMORIAL DAY TRIBUTE

Memorial Day Tribute

Happy Memorial Day…we’re so proud to honor those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our country this weekend. I wanted to briefly share a short message and some images and readings that are very meaningful to me personally. One of my buddies, Andy, who was a Marine, reminds us that, “this is not an attempt to keep anyone from enjoying the upcoming weekend. It is an attempt to remind each of us why we have this celebration, and why we can have this celebration on Memorial Day. Semper Fi.” Click the image below to view full gallery.

SRQ MAGAZINE’S SB2: THE TOURISM ECONOMY

SRQ Magazine’s SB2: The Tourism Economy

Anna Maria Oyster Bar proudly sponsored the Keynote Presentation at SRQ Media’s SB2 Symposium on The Tourism Economy, which happened on Thursday, May 18, 2017. The tourism economy sparks opportunities beyond finding the perfect ice cream cone or enjoying the beauty of a sunset on Siesta Beach. Visitors have a major positive impact on our region and its ability to invest, sustain and grow the local economy. We loved hearing from panelists Jeff Mayers from The Resort at Longboat Key Club; Rick Piccolo from the Sarasota Bradenton International Airport (SRQ); and Elliott Falcione from the Bradenton Area Convention Center.
