Dive Into Reading Volunteer Registration is Now OPEN!

DIVE INTO READING VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN!

Dive Into Reading volunteer registration is officially open and we need YOUR help! This year, we have opened up our program to rising 1st graders as well as rising 2nd and 3rd graders. We are expecting approximately 450 children! More kiddos mean more volunteers!

For those who aren’t familiar with Dive Into Reading is, it’s a program Amanda and John Horne of Anna Maria Oyster Bar started three years ago with the help of our amazing staff and myriad community partners. The goal of Dive Into Reading is to improve children’s reading levels by combating “Summer Slide,” continue children’s educations over summer break, improve reading levels, and of course, instill a love of reading.

This program is made possible by the support of community partners and volunteer mentors. If you’d like to create a positive impact on a child’s future, please consider becoming a volunteer reading mentor.

The time commitment is 8:30-10:15am, one day per week, for 4 weeks during the month of June. All volunteers must attend a 90 minute mandatory informational and training session prior to your volunteer sessions. Multiple locations in the area are participating to help our Manatee elementary schools – and – to better fit your schedule!

Thank you in advance for your commitment. Get ready to impact children’s lives…because reading is flippin’ awesome!
