Anna Maria Oyster Bar Hosts Retirement Party Celebrating Officer Andre Jenkins

BRADENTON, FL, June 6, 2018:  Officer Andre Jenkins dedicated three decades to protecting and serving the Sarasota community.   He recently retired from his post, signing off through an emotional farewell video that went viral. To celebrate his commitment to protecting the community, Anna Maria Oyster Bar hosted a retirement party celebrating Andre Jenkins.

Andre Jenkins was recorded bidding farewell, going 10-7 (out-of-service) for the last time after protecting the City of Sarasota for 30 years. The video of Jenkins went viral across social media, and even landed a feature on the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt.

To thank Andre Jenkins for his dedicated service of keeping the community safe, Anna Maria Oyster Bar invited Officer Jenkins to host his retirement party at the Landside location at no cost so he and his family could celebrate together.

Congressman Vern Buchanan wrote a letter of congratulations to Officer Jenkins, which was read aloud by John Horne, President of Anna Maria Oyster Bar. In the letter, Vern Buchanan congratulated Andre on his retirement from the Sarasota Police Department. Buchanan also shared his gratitude in having the opportunity to recognize his 30 years of service, going on to say “I appreciate this opportunity to thank you for your dedicated public service and wish you health and happiness.”

Anna Maria Oyster Bar owner John Horne remarks, “it was an honor to meet such a fine public servant as Officer Jenkins.  We look forward to seeing what he will accomplish next, as he has spent the past few years in night school preparing for his next career as a pharmacist, and we wish him success when he applies to University of South Florida next year.”
