DIVE INTO READING: WEEK 2

Dive into Reading: Week 2

Written by Ashley Graham of Sokos Social As Martin Luther King, Jr. said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” To have the chance to help a child learn to read, and spark the interest of a younger generation to continue reading and learning has been priceless. The first week of the program, I arrived at Gecko’s on State Road 70 and eagerly awaited meeting the child I’d be mentoring for the next month. It was inspiring to look around the room and see all the volunteers, also anxious for the children to arrive!

AMOB goes to Washington, D.C. (Part 2) Thank you again to Congressman Vern Buchanan for giving me the opportunity to speak in front of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Tax Policy Subcommittee. Great to get the word out on how business is confident and thriving in Manatee County! The new tax cuts have shown opportunity for us to reinvest in the company – purchasing new equipment and presenting bonuses to workers. Running a small business with four locations and a staff of over 300, we have been able to see the economic confidence flow from the new tax

Mother’s Day 2018 at AMOB

Mother’s Day, known around here as “Put Your Mom to Work Day”, was a spectacular day. We were so happy to see all the loving families stop by for a bite to eat, showing their moms some well-deserved appreciation. We had carnations handed out to all the moms when they arrived, including two special ladies helping deliver them out – John and Lynn’s mom, Ann Horne, along with retired AMOB family member Miss Julia McCall. It was a delight to see our Miss Julia. Wow… we all miss her at Cortez. She retired 3 years ago as our Day Host,
