Giving Back

Giving Back

Our family is committed to giving back to many causes and organizations in our area, and frequently host charitable functions at the four Anna Maria Oyster Bar locations.

Not only do we throw great events, we are proud to participate in many local events for wonderful not-for-profits, professional organizations and fundraisers in our community. We love giving back!

John and his wife Amanda host (along with friends Stewart & Trudy Moon) the Horne & Moon Social.  This annual event raises funds for need-based scholarships for adults changing their lives by returning to school at the University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee, State College of Florida and Manatee Technical College. The Horne & Moon Scholarship Fund is administrated by Manatee Community Foundation.

John and Amanda also host a summer reading program called Dive into Reading. Dive into Reading started in Summer of 2017, inviting rising third graders from local schools to eat breakfast and learn to read. The goal of the Dive into Reading summer program is to improve children’s reading levels and continue their learning over summer break. The program received an outpour of community support, winning recognition and awards from the School District of Manatee County and Manatee Chamber of Commerce. It also proved successful, students that completed the program showed an increase in reading proficiency when they returned back to school. Because of it’s success and support, we’re excited to bring it back Summer 2018.
