12 Cheers for 20 Years: October Recap

12 CHEERS FOR 20 YEARS: AUGUST

For the month of October, as part of our 12 Cheers for 20 Years Campaign, we raised money for the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.  In total, Team “Shuck Cancer” raised $7,008… and had a great time doing it.

To raise additional funds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer beyond the monthly 12 Cheers Birthday Cocktail proceeds, our teams also sold pink “Shuck Cancer” t-shirts and buttons… at some of the stores, we also sold raffle tickets for great prizes!

Happy birthday, Anna Maria Oyster Bars… Volume 10

October…you can’t help but think Halloween and Breast Cancer Awareness when October rolls around every year…well in Florida especially…it’s not like we have leaves turning gorgeous colors in October…or for that matter, we don’t even have cooler weather to look forward to…I don’t expect that ‘til after Thanksgiving…or New Year’s Day…

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and we’re happy to say we’ve been selling our Birthday Cocktails and Dos Equis…and this month, our soon-to-be-famous TaTa-Tini, raising funds for this year’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. 100% of the proceeds of the TaTa-Tini go to the MSABC event along with our other drink specials in October. The TaTa-Tini is made with Strawberry-Lemonade Vodka, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice and Prosecco…all that with a pink sugar rim for $6…and all $6 goes in the pot for MSABC!!!

Next Saturday, October 28th at Nathan Benderson Park, we’ll have a team of walkers, we’ll donate all our proceeds and we’ll be helping feed cancer survivors at the finish line for the 8th year in a row…or is it 10…I can’t keep track. We’ve been selling our team shirts…Bright Pink Team “Shuck Cancer” shirts…look for us out there next Saturday.

Cheers to 20 Years!

Make sure you visit us this month and be sure to order one of our 12 Cheers cocktails… as you all know, a portion of proceeds from Dos Equis and our Birthday Cake Cocktail go to for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer this month, and today the 20th, all proceeds are donated.

We really appreciate you helping us all year support our Community Causes…not just this year…all year…we’ll be celebrating The Food Bank of Manatee next month…who doesn’t think of food around Thanksgiving…and we’ll wrap up our Year-Long 20th Birthday Celebration in December with the Southeastern Guide Dogs…more on these two later… Again, thanks so much for your help.

Wondering what’s up our sleeve for next year, when the 12 Cheers for 20 Years campaign will have come to an end? Stay tuned!

We have partnered with the Moon Family…Stewart & Trudy and Stewart Jr., along with the Manatee Community Foundation to encourage adults to further their education, provide for their families, and give back to the community. Click here to learn more about the Horne & Moon Scholarship Fund from our May “12 Cheers” message.

We’d love to have you join us tomorrow evening and help us continue to keep adults bettering themselves through education. The food is awesome…the band will keep you dancing all night…there are some great prizes to bid on and a great auction as well. And who knows…you could probably run into one of your favorite ex-pats from the ’20s in Paris!

One last thing before we go…

Our friends at the Denis V. Cooper Foundation are fundraising for Wreaths Across America, a national campaign to ensure that every headstone at Sarasota National Cemetery has a wreath for the holidays.

There are thousands of veterans at SNC who no longer have family or friends to remember them, and the Wreaths Across America ceremony day might be the only time his or her grave site is visited all year.

It’s really a sight to behold when the wreaths are laid upon the beautiful white tombstones…. truly awe-inspiring.

This year’s goal is 12,600 wreaths, and it will take a tremendous amount of community support to achieve that goal. Wreaths are $15 each and by sponsoring a Wreaths Across America remembrance wreath you are demonstrating your thankfulness for our nation’s armed services and its veterans.

We hope that you will sponsor a wreath and also attend the Wreath-Laying Ceremony on Saturday, December 16 at 9:30am.

Thanks again, folks, for tuning in to our “12 Cheers for 20 Years” newsletter… look out for more news & updates from the Anna Maria Oyster Bars soon, including next month’s *final* 12 Cheers message about Southeastern Guide Dogs!

As always, “Stay Thirsty, My Friends…”
